Sindoor (also spelled  sindur or sindooram) is a traditional vermilion-red or orange-red colored powder that holds great significance in Hindu religious and cultural traditions, especially for married women. It is typically applied as a mark or a line in the parting of a woman’s hair, most commonly in the center of her forehead.
