These are a variant of vertical Shell-and-tube heat exchanger with laterally or concentrically arranged centrifugal separator.
Fenix FFEs are most efficient because evaporation is gentle, mostly under vacuum, and residence time in the evaporator is extremely short. The energy efficiency is also very high due to multiple e.ffect type of heating arrangement. Heating is done by thermal or mechanical vapour recompression method depending on the lowest theoretical temperature difference..
Process control and automation incorporated are simple: Due to their small liquid content, FFEs react quickly to changes in energy supply, vacuum, feed quantities, concentrations etc.
