Dobutamine Injection

Dobutamine Injection is used for stimulating receptors (beta-1 receptors) on the heart of the patient. Dobutamine Injection has minimal side-effects on the heart rate that helps in decreasing the chances of irregular heartbeats. Further, it does not have any significant effect on blood pressure. Indications :

• Congestive heart failure
• Hypotensive patients
• Cardiogenic or septic shock
• Myocardial infarction
• Cardiac surgery

Dosage : 

• Adult : Start at the rate of 0.5-1.0 µg/kg/min and titrated at intervals of a few minutes upto 2.5-20 mcg/kg/minute; maximum : 40 mcg /kg/ minute.
• Paediatric : Not recommended.
• Renally Impaired Patients : Not known, administer with caution.
