These insulating sleeves are available in various standard sizes.
Direct pour sleeves are provided with a seat inside the bottom portion to accommodate a foam filter, these sleeves are placed directly on the body of casting or at the side and metal is directly poured in the sleeve. After filling out the mold and the sleeve, the filter floats out and liquid metal inside the sleeve starts feeding the casting. This can achieve a perfect “Directional Solidification” in the casting.
This eliminates the need for sprue, runner and ingates (conventional gating system), hence improving the yield of castings.
