Di Methyl Formamide(DMF) is an organic compound with the formula (CH3)2NC(O)H, it is a colorless, high boiling liquid it is commonly known as DMF it is miscible with water and all other compounds and therefore widely used for chemical reactions. Pure form of Di Methyl Formamide is odorless but grade or degraded or impure De Methyl Formamide is having a fishy odor due to impurities. DMF has derived its name because it is a derivative of Formamide and the amide of formic acid.
