Dianova (Berberine 500mg) is used in Diabetes mellitus by increasing the glucose uptake inside the cells, insulin sensitizing effect, incretin effects and by DDP4 inhibition.

• Improving insulin action by activating AMP-activated protein kinase AMPK (Metabolic Master Switch)

• Improves glucose metabolism through induction of Glycolysis

• Promoting GLP-1 (Incretins) secretion and modulating its release
   
  (Incretins) cause short-term increase in the amount of Insulin

• Inhibition of DPP-4 ,similar to Sitagliptin
   
  Dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) is the enzyme responsible for inactivation of Incretins

   DRUG INTERACTIONS:

   

  Should be avoided in patients taking macrolide 
  antibiotics like azithromycin, clarithromycin 
  and Immunosuppressant, Cyclosporins

   

   SIDE-EFFECTS:

  May cause gastric discomfort in sensitive individuals
  in initial days of use which subsides gradually .
