Support pebbles are used in the lowest strata of a filter bed as a support to gravels and filter media. For maximum efficiency, the pebbles must possess necessary attributes of hardness and be rounded or non-angular. The pebbles, like gravels, contain hard durable particles with a slow breakdown rate. This helps to prolong filter media life. The pebbles are screened into different size which effectively supports gravels and filter media.
