Cupping Therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on the patient skin for a few minutes to create suction. People get it for many purpose including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and as type of tissue massage, stiffness of muscles and even respiratory issue. The technique uses suction in cups to pull the skin away from the body and promotes blood flow. It can be done with heat by lightning flammable liquid in a glass cup and suctioning thatbto the back once the flame goes out with the decrease in temperature creating the suction.
How Does Cupping Therapy Work :

Either heat or air is used to create suction in special cups that are placed on the body. The vacume that created pulls the skin and blood vessels in towards the cup, which is they can leave the marks on the skin. Cupping is thought to pull blood to a certain area and improve circulation and loosen up muscles and joints. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) the theory is that cupping can influence the flow of energy or “Qi” through the body. If someone’s flow is blocked or stagnant, a practitioner might use cupping to impact the flow.
    Purpoes of Cupping Therapy:

Purpose of cupping therapy is ‘to Enhance Circulation’ helps relieve pain, remove heat or inflammation and pull out the toxin that linger in body’s tissues.
There are many varieties of cupping therapy. Although there are three main varieties that use either glass or plastic cups.

    • Wet Cupping : Wet cupping is called that because of the blood is drawn from a person’s skin. Another name for it is Chinese Bloodletting. Cups are applied and then removed after a few minutes, small incisions are then made cups applied again drawing blood into the cup. The purpose is to remove stagnant blood from the body. This therapy is also used as detoxifying the blood.
    • Dry Cupping : Unlike wet cupping, dry cupping doesn’t involve an incision, So there should not be any blood leaving the body. The cups which ranges from one to three inches in diameter are applied to the skin and then suction is applied. Mechanical or motor driven suction pumps are properly used to create suction.
    • Fire Cupping : Fire Cupping is when a cotton ball is soaked in isopropyl alcohol, lit on fire and then quickly dipped into an empty cup. The flaming ball is then removed and the cups applied to the skin. The fire remove the oxygen form the cup which creates the suction. Practitioner may also applied oil to a person’s skin before the cups applied, as it helps create a better seal.
