Cumin is a seed based spice known for essential medicinal uses in India and other Asian nations. Native to the land of Mediterranean, Cumin is today mainly grown in India, Syria, Turkey, Egypt, China and parts of America. It is generally grown in hot climatic conditions. India is the largest producer and consumer of cumin in the world. It is estimated that Indian output at present is around 200,000 tonnes per year. Gujarat and Rajasthan are the states with major production of cumin in India.
