PEG – 4000 & 6000 these PEG acts as binder & dry lubricant due to its laminar structure and therefore can be used in the manufacture of pills and tablets for certain pharmaceutical preparations. In rubber industry, PEG - 4000 can be used as a mould release agent. A solution of PEG - 4000 of 3 - 20 % concentration can be coated or sprayed into the hot mould cavities, thus enabling the solvent to evaporate, the solution is either dried by applying heat or allowed to dry evaporation of solvent.
