    In India, coriander powder is also known as 'Dhaniya powder. It is made from dry coriander seeds. The scientific name of the coriander seed is Coriandrum sativum. It is an Ayurvedic medicinal herb. The green leaves of coriander, also commonly known as cilantro. aromatic coriander seed is used in curry-based dishes, several ethnic dishes, soups, pickled vegetables, cooked vegetables, bread, and stews. Coriander seeds have an earthy flavor which is enhanced once brought under warmth. Coriander is a rich source of dietary fiber, manganese, iron, and magnesium. Coriander is also a great source of Vitamin K, Vitamin C, and protein.
    In addition, they contain a small amount of phosphorus, calcium, potassium, carotene, and niacin. These beneficial qualities of coriander leaves help in improving blood sugar levels, boosting immunity, improving heart health, promoting digestion, improving kidney functioning, and more. The seeds are small and round with ridges on the outside. Creamy brown in color, they can be used as a whole spice or ground into a powder. In their raw state, these seeds have a distinct citrus flavor that imparts a real warming sensation (as well as a nutty texture) when used whole.
    There Is also some downside of Coriandrum sativum in the sunlight the green color of the seeds becomes slightly yellow. It's amazing in marinades and really brings out the light, refreshing flavors of barbecue dishes. Coriander in this form is also an important component of the garam masala spice blend.
