Agaricus bisporus is an edible basidiomycete mushroom native to grasslands in Europe and North America.

 It has two color states while immature – white and brown – both of which have various names, with additional names for the mature state.

White mushrooms (Agaricus bisporus) belong to the Fungi kingdom and constitute about 90% of the mushrooms consumed in the United States.

 White mushrooms are also known as table, common, button, or champignon mushrooms. 

They have a small stem, smooth cap, and mild flavor that pairs well with many dishes.
