Common and Combined Effluent Treatment Plant

A Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) is a centralized wastewater treatment facility that is designed to receive, treat and dispose of wastewater from several industries or sources. The objective of a CETP is to treat the effluent to a level that meets the prescribed environmental standards before discharging it into the receiving water bodies or reusing it for various purposes. A Combined Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) is a similar facility that treats effluent from multiple sources, but it is usually located within a particular industrial estate or cluster. The CETP receives the wastewater from various industries or units within the estate and treats it to a specified level before discharging it into the environment or reusing it.
