Contact SupplierCR Coils are essentially HR coils that have been cold rolled to their specified final thickness at room temperature and may be supplied as fully processed (annealed) or full hard.
To obtain Cold Rolled Steel from Hot Rolled Steel, a series of additional processing steps are required. Firstly, the Hot Rolled Coils undergo pickling and are then fed into the Tandem Cold Rolling Mill. The output from this mill is cooled at room temperature and subjected to Electrolytic Cleaning before undergoing Batch Annealing in the furnace. Next, the coils pass through the Skin Pass Mill before resulting in the final product - Cold Rolled Closed Annealed (CRCA) coils. This process yields steel that has superior dimensional tolerances and offers a broader range of surface finishes.
Advantages
Superior Surface Finish- The uniform texture and matte finish of the surface is achieved by state-of-the-art EDT (electro discharge texture) rolls used during cold rolling and skin passing processes. This minimises pre-treatment time and cost significantly and ensures superior surface cleanliness, best paint adhesion and lower paint consumption in applications.
Uniform Mechanical Properties- Hot Rolling Process with state-of-the-art ROT (run-out-table) cooling strategy ensures the right microstructure in the entire coil. Hence, customers get consistent quality with higher yields during stamping.
Enhanced Flatness- The Continuous Cold Mill equipped with Universal Crown and auto shape control (ASC) facilities ensure absolute flatness of the coil, defined as 'I' units. This improves flatness reduces adjustment time and increases productivity.
Better Weldability- Efficient chemistry control at the steelmaking stage against stringent internal standards and mill processing as per set standards and design, ensure the right mechanical properties in terms of strength and hardness. This guarantees adequate bendability and formability in end applications. Better weldability is ensured through carbon, phosphorus and sulphur level controls.
Applications
Electrical Switchgear and Control Panels- CR Coils are used in control panels and switchgears since they can be easily formed and shaped into complex geometries, which is essential in the production of components for electrical equipment. They can also be easily welded or bolted together, making the assembly of control panels and switchgears much simpler and more efficient.
Electrical Stampings- CR Coils can conduct magnetic flux which is essential for the functioning of electrical machines and devices like transformers, generators, and motors. The strength of CR Coils ensures that the stamped parts can withstand mechanical stresses and strains during operation, thereby increasing their lifespan
Elevator Panels-CR Coils have a smooth surface finish which ensures that the panels have a clean and modern appearance. Moreover, CR Coils have excellent mechanical properties, including high strength and ductility, making them ideal for use in elevator panels. The strength of CR Coils ensures that the panels can withstand heavy loads, while their ductility allows them to be formed into complex shapes without cracking or deformation.
Furniture-CR Coils have a smooth surface finish, which makes them ideal for use in the production of furniture. The smooth surface of CR Coils allows for easy painting, coating or polishing, resulting in a visually appealing final product. CR Coils have good corrosion resistance which ensures that the furniture remains in good condition even after prolonged use.
Others-CR Coils find applications in various other fields such as agricultural implements, fan blades, press parts for automobiles, drums and barrels, and precision tubes.
