Contact SupplierCoir fiber, the golden fiber, is obtained from the husk of the coconut fruit. The individual fiber cells are narrow and hallow with thick walls made of cellulose. When they mature they become hardened and yellowed with a layer of lignin. This makes the coir relatively waterproof, and is the only natural fiber resistant to damage by salt water. When sprayed with rubber latex, rubberized coir is formed and used in upholstery padding for automobile industry in Europe. It is also used for insulation and packaging.
