Cold and Asthmatic Cough :

• Cough is a condition in which minute particles enter the respiratory path and irritate the airways. This blockage hampers the flow of air from nose to lungs and vice versa. Cough is a rapid expulsion of air from the lungs typically in order to clear the lung airways of fluids, mucus, or material. Some coughs are dry, and some others are considered productive. A productive cough is one that brings up the mucus. Cough can be categorized as acute (if less than 3 weeks) or chronic (if greater than 3 weeks).
• When external dust, pollen etc. enter the airway path, to expel those dust our inner surface of respiratory system secrete more amount of mucus. The mucus secreted will mix with the dust and expel out through body in the means of cough. During this process more amount of mucus secretion reduces the air flow in to the lungs due to thick deposition of mucus. If the problem occur in regular interval and if not treated properly may turn into bronchial asthma which is very difficult to cure.

Causes :

The main cause of cough and common cold are viral respiratory infections, flu, sinusitis, pneumonia, asthmas, whooping cough and lung cancer.
Consequences :

Persons suffering from cough and blocked nose find difficulty in breathing, sleeping and speaking. They may even suffer from snoring, sneezing. They find uneasiness in chest and throat, go through headache, fever and develop dislike for food due to problems in swallowing food.
Food Regime :

• Do’s: Boiled vegetables, Onions, ginger, hot milk mixed with pinch of turmeric powder
• Don’ts: Avoid cold foods and drinks, pastries, ice-creams, fried food, sweets, milk products like yogurt.

Action of COF - 15

• It provides bronchodilator activity i.e. liquefy the mucus which is present in the airway path and helps the movement of air to the lungs.
• Offers an antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory action on the respiratory system
• Provides quick and long lasting relief from coughs and sore throat
• Soothes the airway path

Indications :

• Dry and productive cough
• Common cold
• Expectorant

Dosage : 5 to 10ml three or four times a day or as directed by the phycician.
