In CO2/MIG Welding or Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) process, arc is formed between a continuously fed filler wire and work piece. The shielding is obtained by an externally supplied gas. CO2 is used as a shielding gas in the welding of mild steel and low alloy steels. Argon / Argon mixtures are used for shielding while welding stainless steel and non ferrous metals. Filler wire is in the form of spool.
The equipment for GMA W consists of:
A constant potential D. C. power source.
Wire feeder with built in controls for feeding the filler wire.
A welding gun / torch.
Set of accessories comprising of welding cables, gas hose, regulator with flow meter, gas preheater and welding helmet, gloves etc.
Advantages Of Process
Higher welding speeds and deposition rates.
Low heat input and very low or no slag formation.
No frequent changing of electrodes.
Easily adoptable for full automation with the help of suitable welding aids.
No stub end loss.
ARC POWER MIG / MAG welding machines are characterized by a high degree of reliability, quality, flexibility and competitive price.
Application
Automobile and Textile industry, Sugar and Chemical gas preheater and equipment and sheet metal fabrication etc.
