Contact SupplierStiloz is a medication used in the alleviation of the symptom of intermittent claudication in individuals with peripheral vascular disease. It is manufactured by Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co. under the trade name Pletal. Although drugs similar to Stiloz have increased the risk of death in patients with congestive heart failure, studies of significant size have not addressed people without the disease.
Stiloz is a selective PDE3 phosphodiesterase inhibitor with therapeutic focus on cAMP. It inhibits platelet aggregation and is a direct arterial vasodilator. Its main effects are dilation of the arteries supplying blood to the legs and decreasing platelet coagulation.
Stiloz is used to treat intermittent claudication -- a disease that causes pain in the lower leg when walking. The pain is caused by blocked or narrowed arteries in the legs. Stiloz is a blood-thinning medicine. It prevents special cells in the blood - the platelets - from sticking to each other. This reduces the risk of harmful blood clots forming. Blood clots inside a blood vessel prevent blood from flowing properly and this can cause pain. Stiloz also improves blood circulation in the legs by widening the arteries. It reduces leg pain so you can walk longer distances without discomfort. Stiloz is also used together with to prevent blood clots in people who have had stents inserted into their heart arteries.
