Briquette (White coal) as the name suggest is the substitute of coal which is suitable for the environment. Briquettes generated by the low-pressure compaction of sawdust, agricultural or yard waste, etc. currently serve as an alternative to firewood, wood pellets and charcoal. Due to increasing carbon, contents in the atmosphere companies are suggested to use Biomass Briquette, which heal them in getting carbon credit from the Govt.
Almost every agricultural waste product can be used in briquette. Briquetting plants set so far in India are using Saw Dust, Bamboo dust, Biogases, Cotton Stalk, Coffee husk, Groundnut Shell, Mustard Husk/Stalk, Pine Needles, Rice Husk, Sugar Mill Waste, Jute waste, Coir pith and other wastes & residues like Castor Shell, Red Gram Stalk, stem, Tea Waste, Sander Dust, Tree Bark, Wild Grasses & Shrubs and Sander dust etc. can be also be briquetted individually or in combination without using any binder.

Specifications:

• The energy content of briquettes ranged from 4.48 to 5.95 kilojoule per gram (kJ/g) depending on composition, whereas the energy content of sawdust, charcoal and wood pellets ranged from 7.24 to 8.25 kJ/g.

• Bio mass briquettes have a higher practical thermal value and much lower ash content(2-10% compare to 20-40% in coal).
