Caustic potash, also known as potassium hydroxide (KOH), is a strong alkaline, inorganic compound with many industrial applications. It's a prototypical base, similar to sodium hydroxide, and is highly corrosive and toxic. Caustic potash is produced by electrolyzing potassium chloride and can appear as a clear solution, white or yellow lumps, flakes, pellets, or rods. It's soluble in water, methanol, ethanol, and glycerin, and slightly soluble in ether.
