Handloom carpets are made by hand using high quality raw materials, but rather than having knots that need to be tied, a special " tufting gun" is used to push cut of silk through a scrim ( pre-woven backing). The last stage in the production is trimming the pile to the desired length, thereby exposing the thread ends for a softer pile.
