Contact SupplierA cardiology guide wire, also known simply as a guide wire or angioplasty wire, is a thin, flexible wire used in various cardiovascular procedures to navigate through blood vessels and guide the placement of other medical devices, such as catheters and stents. These wires are crucial tools in interventional cardiology and other vascular interventions.
During a cardiovascular procedure, such as angioplasty or stent placement, the guide wire is inserted into a peripheral artery (often accessed through the femoral artery in the groin) or a coronary artery (accessed through the radial or femoral artery) and advanced under fluoroscopic guidance toward the target vessel. Once the guide wire reaches the desired location, other devices, such as catheters or balloons, can be advanced over the wire to perform the intended intervention.
