Description & History of Clove Bud:
Clove is one of the most ancient and valuable spices of the orient and holds a unique position in the international spice trade. Native to Moluccas the so called “spice islands” in the east Indian Archipelago, this spice was first introduced in India around 1800 A.D. by East India Company.

The leaves appearing in pairs, are lanceolate, acute at both ends and are of dark shining green colour. The aromatic nature of the leaves is due to numerous oil glands found on their under surfaces. The flower buds are greenish when fresh and are borne on end, which are picked green and dried in the sun till they become dark brown, from the clove of commerce. The buds have slightly cylindrical base and are surmounted by the plump ball like unopened corolla which is surmounted by the four toothed calyx.
Clove is strictly a tropical plant and it requires a warm humid climate. Although there has been a general belief that clove requires proximity to sea for the proper development and cropping, experience in India has shown that the trees do well in the submontane regions and have been found to perform better than in other areas.
Distillation of Clove Bud Oil:
Clove Bud oil can be obtained from Distillation of buds, leaf or stem each resulting in an oil having different characteristics of oil. The yield and quality of the oil are influenced by origin, variety post harvest processing, pre-treatment before distillation, distillation method and post-distillation treatment. Clove bud and stem are comminuted before distillation to break the oil cells and widen the surface so that the oil can be released more easily from the cells the materials are distilled using water by steam distillation method for between 8 to 10 hours. Uses of Clove Bud  oil;

• Skin care:  Eugenol In clove Bud oil has rejuvenating and stimulating properties which can increase blood flow to the skin and make it look radical. You will find it many products for lessening the effect of aging, like wrinkles, sagging skin and Blemishes.
• Treat acne: Clove Bud oil is often recommended for acne patients as it ahs potent antimicrobial properties.
