The key advantage of the high reactivity calcium hydroxide is its ability to react very rapidly to effectively capture acid gases. So, even if a plant or utility only has short existing duct runs, and short reaction times; the high reactive hydrate can still capture the acid gases present in the flue gas. This provides a control option both for acid gases, and when so3 is a concern in mercury control programs. There are several situations where this product type is beneficial. More reduction allows plants to meet increasingly stringent acid gas limits. Alternatively, the end user can use less sorbent to achieve similar pollutant emission levels and recognize a cost savings. Users requiring high in flight acid gas removal will benefit from a higher reactive hydrate, making it an attractive option for systems co-injecting a mercury removal sorbent. Users with marginal esps can also benefit by using less hydrated lime to meet pollutant removal requirements.
