Description
model 5199 works on a proven "pulse reflection technique" & can detect most common faults quickly. It transmits a pulse of controlled pulse width & amplitude along the pair under test. The pulse travels with a fixed velocity & propagation which depends on the dielectric material surrounding the conducter - (pvc, jelly, paper etc.) whenever there is a change of characteristic impedence, a part of pulse energy reflects back to the source & both inerdent & reflected pulse are displayed on crt. The distance to fault is computed & displayed on 4 12 digit led display.
