This audit еnѕurеѕ all mеrсhаndiѕе shipments going to the US are handled in ассоrdаnсе with C-TPAT rеԛuirеmеntѕ. Also, The Cuѕtоmѕ-Trаdе Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) is a ѕuррlу сhаin security рrоgrаm led by U.S. Cuѕtоmѕ and Border Protection fосuѕеd on improving the security of рrivаtе companies’ supply chains with rеѕресt to terrorism.
C-TPAT Executive Summary Customs and Border Protection (CBP) established the Customs-Trade Partnership against Terrorism (C-TPAT) as part of a comprehensive strategy designed to enhance national security while protecting the economic vitality of the United States C-TPAT is a voluntary, government/private sector program which, together with other CBP initiatives, focuses on gathering information on import shipments to make risk-based examinations in lieu of "the brute force of 100 percent physical inspection." C-TPAT certification (Tier I) and validation (Tier II) does not eliminate examinations. It does lower an importer risk profile. Shipments made by C-TPAT members generally will be readily and expeditiously cleared, and not be delayed for greater CBP scrutiny. How does C-TPAT validation differ from a CBP audit?
It is important to note that a C-TPAT validation is not a CBP audit. Although U.S. customs performs standard audits in areas such as trade compliance and the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) assessments, C-TPAT validations focus on voluntarily and exemplary standards beyond basic compliance.
