Coir is high in sodium and potassium, it is treated before use as a growth medium for plants or fungi by soaking in a calcium buffering solution; most coir sold for growing purposes is pre-treated. It does not require treatment prior to use. Buffered or Exchanged Cocopeat is considered the most stable growing medium in the horticultural industry. Mainly for transplanting of tissue cultured plants from Beaker to tray. Also used for propagation plugs & seed starting
