The chemical name of Brilliant Blue FCF Colour is disodium 4’,4”-di(N-ethyl-3-sulphonatoenzylamino)triphenyl-methylium-2-sulphonate. It has a bright blue shade with water solubility property for 160 grams per litre at 20°C. It is also known under commercial name is colorant for foods and other substances. It is denoted by E Number E133 and has a colour index of 42090.It is a synthetic dye produced using aromatic hydrocarbons from petroleum. It can be combined with tartrazine to produce various shades of green.
