Brass requires no oil, however some of the softer and tougher alloys require an emulsified oil. Paraffin works but a proper cutting oil is better. These die's are preferably made out of Brass Metal because brass is good conductor of electricity, allows heat to follow through it easily and attains the required temperature within minutes depending upon the thickness and base of the leather.
