In the present day, hematopoietic stem cells can be acquired from the peripheral blood, all this with the help of certain growth factors or from the other source which is an umbilical cord. Thus, the earlier famed ‘hematopoietic stem cell transplantation` is now preferred and referred to as ‘bone marrow transplantation’.
