Standard Begg’s design includes a wire arch (labial bow) with adjustment loops at canines or second premolar region and closely contoured to the second molars. Small support wires can be used between the canines, if needed. Begg’s retainer is also a very popular form of post treatment orthodontic retainer. The custom made retainer is designed to hold the teeth in their final position after fixed orthodontic brackets and arch wires have been removed. It is the best appliance to close the band space in those cases where the last molar is not present.
