Barites

Barite is a sulphate of Barium, BaSO4 and is a mineral of High Specific Gravity and strong opacity for a light coloured mineral. India is one of the largest countries in the world, having reserves of approximately 40 million tonnes of Barites. Ashapura is in this field since last 10 years. Ashapura is exporting Barites to UK, Texas, Gulf etc. Barite is found in the southern parts of India. There are many industrial minerals used in formation of drilling fluids. Drilling fluids help maximize rate of penetration - ROP while maintaining hole-stability, circulation & pressure control in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. Among many minerals used in drilling fluids, Barites & Bentonite are largely far the most significant. Bentonite used in drilling fluids accounts for approximately 25% of world Bentonite demand. Barite is the drilling fluid mineral with nearly 85% of world production consumed by the industry. Barites or Barium Sulphate has a specific gravity (SG) of upto 4.50 when pure. Its chemical composition is 65.7% BaO and 34.3% SO3. As a naturally occurring mineral mined by primitive means & occurring in a variety of geological settings.
