Asafoetida Oil

This oil is extracted from Asafoetida resins through a particular distillation process. It gives fluid like appearance and is yellow in color with strong pungent garlic like odor. Asafoetida is botanically known as Ferula assafoetida and is generally known as stinking gums, giant fennel, asant or jowani badian. The dried latex or gum of hing is exuded from ground rhizomes or tap roots of several perennial species of asafetida. Plant of hing grows about 1 m to 1.5 m and belongs to Umbelliiferae botanical family of Apiales order. Hing oil is soluble in essential oils but insoluble in water.
