    What is Bifma level certification?

BIFMA's level is the multi-attribute sustainability standard and third-party certification program for the commercial furniture industry. BIFMA developed level to deliver an open and holistic means of evaluating and communicating the environmental and social impacts of furniture products in the built environment.

Consumers can take the comfort, safety, and durability of their commercial furniture for granted in large part because of the voluntary standards adopted by the business and institutional furniture industry. Chairs that support us securely day after day, casters that roll smoothly year after year, drawers that retain their shape even when jam-packed — these are some of the foundation stones of a safe and civilized workplace. BIFMA sponsors the development and maintenance of the standards behind these quiet achievements.

    BIFMA Standards

A number of BIFMA standards were advanced, revised or refined over the past year and significant work was done to promote awareness and adoption where appropriate.

The types of tests to be employed to test to BIFMA X 5.6 are:

    Panel Stability

    Static load loading

    Dynamic loading

    Durability testing

    Component Dislodgment

CDG offers BIFMA X5.6 testing as part of its Office Furniture Testing services.  ANSI/BIFMA X5.6 – Panel Systems – Tests – was released in January 2016.  This standard provides a level plain field for evaluating the safety, durability and mechanical resistance of panel systems used in office environments.  This standard specifies acceptance levels to help ensure reasonable safety and performance of panel systems with an estimated product life of ten years based on a single shift usage.

    Innovative safety

In response to an increasing demand for table bases that can accommodate any work surface, CDG has developed a new safety certification solution: CDG Listed Safety Certification for Adjustable Table Bases. This solution enables manufacturers of height adjustable table frames to demonstrate that their products meet specific criteria, certifying them as finished products rather than furniture components.

Through a more flexible process that includes testing, product construction review and documentation, as well as manufacturer site audits, recipients of Safety Certification for Height Adjustable Table Base receive CDG Certification.

CIL Provides ANSI/BIFMA X5.6 Testing for Panel Systems. CIL offers the BIFMA X5.6 test as part of its Office Furniture Testing services. ANSI / BIFMA X5.6 - Panel Systems - Tests - Released in January 2016. This standard provides a flat area to assess the safety, durability and mechanical resistance of panel systems used in office environments. This standard specifies acceptance levels to help ensure reasonable safety and performance of panel systems with an estimated product life of ten years based on single shift use.
