    Botanical name: Emblica officinalis/ Phyllanthus emblica

    Phyllanthus emblica, the Indian gooseberry, or aamla from Sanskrit amalika, is a deciduous tree of the family Phyllanthaceae. It is known for its edible fruit of the same name. All parts of the plant are used in various Ayurvedic/Unani medicine herbal preparations, including the fruit, seed, leaves, root, bark and flowers.

    Benefits and uses:

    Amla has anti-bacterial and astringent properties that help prevent infection and help in the healing of ulcers. It is also used for treatment of conjuctuvitis, inflammation, dyspepsia, diarrhea and dysentery, skin disorders, respiratory infections, and premature aging.

    It is effective in skin care therapy & protects cells against free radical damage and provides antioxidant protection. It contains essential vitamins to improve eye sight.

    Amla fruits are used in pickles, several Ayurvedic medicinal preparations, hair wash powders, hair oils, herbal shampoo etc.

    Amla powder strengthens heart muscles & used as a chief ingredient in chyawanprash improve which intelligence and memory power.

    Amla tea may ameliorate diabetic neuropathy. It significantly reduced blood glucose, food intake, water intake and urine output in diabetic one.
