mitcin is a semisynthetic derivative of kanamycin and less toxic to kanamycin strains of multidrug-resistant myco-bacterium tuberculosis including streptomycin resistant strains are usually susceptible to amikacin.
indications : preferred for initial treatment of serious nosocomial gram-negative bacillary infections, active against vast majority of aerobic gram-negative bacilli, serratia, proteus and p. aeruginosa, klebsiella, enterobactor, providencia and flavobactor. effective against m. tuberculosis and atypical mycobacteria specially in aids patients.
