Bulnesia Sarmientoi Lorentz EX are native of South America. Trees are small and slow-growing having dense crown. The leaves are compound, broadly oval and rounded at tip. Resin obtained from tree is used for flavouring cakes and chewing gum. It is also added to edible oils to prevent acidification. The resin has medicinal properties and can treat chronic rheumatism, skin diseases, scrofula, dysmenorrhea and toothache. The wood is hard, close-grained, tough, dense, and durable.

Guaiac wood has diuretic properties which aid body to get rid of excess water.  Its anti-oxidant contents maintain healthy body cells by preventing skin damage.
