Aloe Vera

Local Name : Aloe Vera.
Descriptions : A perennial with prickly, gray-green, succulent leaves 60cm long and a spike of yellow or orange flowers.
Parts of use : Extracts from the leaves and the clear gel from the broken leave.
Medicinal Uses : The clear gel has the ability to heal wounds, ulcers and burns. It is used as a skin lotion for beauty treatment. As a first-aid it is a remedy for burns, grazes, scalds and sunburn. The protective and healing effects also works internally in healing peptic ulcers and irritable bowel syndrome. The yellow liquid in the leaves contains anthraquinines, which are strongly laxative. A stronger dose acts as a purgative.
