General description of the alloy:
This grade is made up the blend of chromium, nickel and iron content. It is the austenitic alloy with great corrosion resistance ability in chemical reducing environments that contain sulfuric acids and other harsh chemicals. This version of the alloy is stable with niobium to resist intergranular attacks.
These fasteners provide a potential cost-saving option when compared to other alloy fasteners. Also, these fasteners are suitable for phosphoric acid, nitric acid, and aqueous salt solutions. These fasteners are a solid solution for the chloride stress corrosion cracking environments. These fasteners also resist crevice and pitting corrosion. Special consideration is taken in the account in chloride containing environment because of corrosion rate increases.
The manufacturing of fasteners:
Alloy 20 Fasteners can be formed by either hot-working or cold-work using standard operations. the hot working operation is done in the controlled temperature between 2100 deg F to 2250 deg F. this temperature should not fall down below 1800 deg F. these are processed for annealing process by heating up to 1725 deg F to 1850 deg F. the quenching process is followed by water.
The stress relieving process is done when necessary; it is heated to temperature below 1000 deg F for the desired time and controlled temperature. The lower hardness properties are achieved by heating up to 2100 deg F, however, this put a negative effect on the stabilization.
The manufactured range of fasteners is processed from certainty tests for quality assurance. Alloy 20 Fasteners are supplied in the prominent packaging methods. These are packed in the wooden box, crates, pallets, and cartons.
