It is also called as cellulose gum, cmc, carboxymethyl cellulose, sodium cmc, cellulose derivatives, cmc sodium, sodium salt of cmc, pac, polyanoinic cellulose etc it is marketed in white to cream coloured powder. It is tasteless, odourless, readily soluble in hot cold water. It dissolves faster in hot water forming almost colourless, transparent, viscous, polyelectrolyte liquid.
Sodium cmc has various properties which makes it suitable for use in a wide range of industries. Sodium cmc can also supplement guargum and replace guargum in many applications where guar has typically been used alone or in combination with other cellulose gums.
Sodium cmc is differentiated in 3 grades:
technical grade sodium cmc
technically pure grade sodium cmc
purified grade sodium cmc.
