Principle

Pararosaniline in presence of phenol and detergent stains acid fast bacilli (AFB)
It retains its red-colored dye upon decolorization with 10% acetic acid during counter-stain with malachite green
All background gets bluish-green color except acid fast bacilli, which remain deep to light red colored

Rapid-AFB "red stain": 100 ml
- Pararosaniline Chloride: 30 m Mol/L
- Methanol: 1.5 m Mol/L
- Phenol: 265 m Mol/L
- Detergent: 1 %
- Contains Stabilizers and preservatives

Rapid-AFB "Green Stain": 100 ml
- Malachite green: 1.6 m Mol/L
- Acid: 1.66 Mol/L
- Contains surface active agents: Both
- Stains are ready to use
