Application & Principle To determine the lowest temperature at which the vapours of a liquid or powder sample will self-ignite. The temperatures at which ‘cool flame’ and ‘hot flame’ ignitions occur(sudden temperature increases in the sample flask), are measured and recorded, and the delay time between introduction of the sample and ignition is timed.
Compliance : ASTM E - 659 ; DIN – 51794 Description and Construction Consists of a Cylindrical Furnace with a stability of ±1°C throughout its operating range. The furnace cover has ports/openings for the flask, thermocouple and a ‘L’ glass tube to insert the sample temperature sensor. The control system along with the USB based 4 channel temperature recorder are housed at the bottom of the chamber. (PC Based DAQ is supplied as an additional module). An adjustable mirror is provided for viewing of the flask interior during testing.
