Phosphor bronze is an alloy of copper with 3.5–4.5% of tin and 0.02-0.35% phosphorus. The addition of tin increases the corrosion resistance and strength of the alloy. The phosphorous increases the wear resistance and stiffness of the alloy. This provides an excellent combination of strength, excellent formability and hardness. This grade alloy is largely insensitive to stress corrosion cracking.
