HIGH ALUMINUM REFRACTORIES, MORTARS AND CASTABLES

We provide a range of insulating castables with speciality materials and low densities. These insulating castable refractories are used as either a back-up lining or for hot face work. They are of low to medium strength, making them resistant to abrasion or particle attack.

We offer a wide range of castables with lower cement content. Varying in Alumina content, this range of products have excellent physical properties. They have low porosity, high strength and good abrasion resistance

Nozzle Filling Compound

Nozzlex nozzle well filler is a free-flowing refractory particular material used in the ladle or tundish sliding gate to prevent skulling and steel freeze-off and ensure easy opening at the start of casting.

Description

Nozzlex is a highly refractory, granular product with selected particle size and distribution, which remains flowable at high temperature, ensuring consistent and trouble-free ladle slide gate operation.

Application

For achieving the best results:

  • Nozzlex should be pre-heated at around 100C for about an hour to drive out any physical moisture.
  • The nozzle cavity should be cleaned of slag and any refractory particles before application.
  • The quantity of Nozzlex to be applied should be carefully determined so that the nozzle cavity is entirely filled, with a slight mound at the nozzle top. It should be applied with a suitable applicator to ensure that the product is applied at the proper place.Function

    Successful operation of ladle slide gate depends to a large extent on the use of proper nozzle filling compounds and operating conditions, as well as nozzle well block geometry. To meet these demanding conditions, the nozzle filling compounds should have sufficient refractoriness to prevent sintering of the particles at high temperature, and ensure good flowability.

LADLE, TUNDISH COVERING COMPOUND

Radex is a range of insulating cover powders designed for use in the ladle or tundish to prevent heat loss during casting. Radex is a ver y lowdensity, free-flowing powder, formulated to reduce heat loss to a minimum. It is normally supplied in handleable bags for the Ladle/Tundish.

Application

Radex powders are usually added to the ladle surface just before it leaves the secondary refining station to make its way to the continuous casting machine. In the tundish, it is added when the steel reaches 1/3 to 2/3 full. The application rate is sufficient to give a 25mm layer of powder on the surface of the steel. In the case of the tundish, it should be continually maintained to provide a black cover throughout the casting process.

Function

Temperature control of the steel is vital in continuous casting, particularly over long casting periods. Casting should be conducted as close as possible to ensure minimum segregation. To reduce the need to cast with high superheat, it is essential to have an efficient ladle or tundish insulating cover. The application of Radex powders minimises heat loss from the ladle and the tundish.
