TORSION TEST APPARATUS

This test is basically used for plugs & socket outlets. For this purpose sample being drawn preferably at random from the regular production lot. The plug is fitted with the flexible cord or cable, the conductors are introduced into the terminals & the terminals are tightened by applying 23rd of the torque specified in the said IS table - 4 , so that the conductor may not easily change the position . Immediately after the cord - grip test as specified in clause 22.1 & 22.2 the cord is subjected for a period of one minute to a torque of 1.5 Nm. At the end of this period, each specimen, in turn, is placed in the normal position of use as shown in the figure and the falling weight is allowed to fall from a height of 100 mm. The mass of falling weight is 1000 2 gms. After the test, the specimen shall show no damage within the meaning of this standard.
