Thermowells within the TWV series are machined from solid bar and mounted between mating flanges for process insertion. This design of thermowell will accept thermocouples (TC), resistance temperature detectors (RTD), as well as mechanical and digital thermometers.
The dimensions of the Vanstone flange corresponds to the mating raised face diameter of the process flange.The Vanstone flange surface finish is usually machined with a phonographic spiral serration to match the mating process flange. During installation a gasket is inserted between the process flange and the Vanstone flange to maintain a pressure seal. A top flange is then placed over the Vanstone thermowell and bolted to the process flange using the correct bolting torque forces for the bolt size and material. | ||||||

TWT thermowells are manufactured from solid bar stock. They are installed into the process using a clamp connection. These are designed to protect pressure instruments from sudden pressure changes and fluctuation of pressurising fluid. Sudden pressure changes are dampened before they reach the pressure sensing element to minimise stress on it and giving it longer life. It accepts direct signals from thermocouples, RTDs and linear voltage and current inputs, either as fixed type or programmable universal input. Each channel is sequentially scanned and active channels are displayed. Also it has the feature of alphanumeric LCD display for user selectable multi-parameter display. Individual channels can be locked for monitoring using the HOLD key. Flexible alarm logic and grouping is provided to energize alarm relay outputs as per the process parameter values and programmed set points. Serial communication options are provided to enable the scanner to be used in DAS front-end applications. Optional windows based MicroDAS software is also available from 8 to 256 channels for monitoring and data logging using multidrop RS485 MODBUS RTU option

The T3 has a few additional features which the other T3 series do not have due to a more advanced CPU. For example the faster scan rates for the inputs In on/off mode, inputs 3 through 10 can count pulses up to 1 khz on each channel.In analog mode, inputs 3thru 10 are 12 bits compared to the previous 12 bits, inputs 1 and 2 remain as 8 bits and slower at pulse counting.
For developers there is a significant improvement with the larger om and ram space: 128k versus 64k for the flash space and 3k ram versus 1k of ram space compared to the earlier models. This gives more room for developers to add features such as Bacnet, PLC type logic, logging, etc. Secondly theres an additional serial port, currently the port is unused but developers will be able to use the second port to manage a subnet of local sensors, keypads and displays for example, or use it in repeater mode to extend and isolate the RS485 main network.
