Dynamic Braking Resistor

AC variable frequency drives are commonly used with a general purpose induction motor to form a reliable variable speed drive system. Applications that require factor deceleration rates where Motor speed is exceeding the synchronous speed set up by the output frequency of the drives a braking resistor required. Breaking Resistor increase the Braking torque capacity of variable frequency drives. The resistor dissipates regenerated power to keep the bus voltage form exceeding the rated unit of the drives. Electrical drive system are being used more and more application as on ships, oil rigs, crane barges and vessels of all types for every type of powered application. Main propellers and bow thrusters driving winches and windlasses. Cranes, Lifts, conveyors and jacks, cable laying and tensioning.

OM Make resistor are wide range resistor technologies and long experience in this field means that we have suitable braking resistor designed for all of the above applications. With braking powers form a few KW up to many MW (needed for example for some crane and main propulsion brakes) and cooling methods which include forced air and natural convection. We have standard products of all types. OM Make resistor use high grade ferritic alloy (feCrAl) or Nical - chromium resistor element. The resistance value changes uttle over the temperature range of element. Element temperature will typically not exceed them 600 degree centigrade.

Detuned Reactor

Om make reactors are designed to meet specific design criteria such as Q factor, inductance tolerances etc. series line reactors shall be designed for harmonic filtering service and for slowing the rate of rapid current charges. The reactors shall be UL component - recognized and shall be built to comply to UL 508 construction shall be of copper wire - wound on magnetic steel cores. Series line reactors shall be sized appropriately for the total connected load. Design maximum temperature rise for reactors shall be 115c on bobbin wound and 155c on form wound devices at rated circuit.

Non-linear equipment generate harmonic as multiples of a fundamental frequency such as AC/DC motor speed controllers, are furnaces compact fluorescent lamps, uninterruptible power sources. As a result of this fact besides the fundamental frequency, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 13th, harmonic are generated.

The OMHG7 - drive applied harmonic filter is called an "OMHG7" shall contain a tuned circuit designed to remove harmonics generated within a power distribution system while improving the system power factor. The OMHG7 designed to minimize the possibility of system problems associated with power factor correction in the presence of harmonic distortion.

The harmonic filter in combination with the adjustable frequency drive shall Meet all requirement specified in the 1992 edition of IEEE Standard 519 for individual and total harmonic Voltage and current distortion. The point of common Coupling (PCC) for all Voltage and current harmonic calculations and measurement shall be the input terminal of the harmonic filter.

Line chokes are modern technology solution for Drive application. Help keep your equipment running longer by absorbing many of the power line disturbances which otherwise damage or shut down your Inverters, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), Variable Speed Controllers or other sensitive equipments. They are a robust filtering solution for virtually any 6 pulse rectifier or power conversion unit. There is no need to derate OM LR Reactors as they are harmonic compensated and IGBT protected to assure optimum performance in the presence of harmonic and are very effective at reducing harmonics produced by inverters and drives. Standard OM LR Reactors may be applied up to 690VAC with compatible impedance ratings.
