Sulphuric Acid finds its way through a wide range of applications in the hydrocarbon (oil & gas) industry and is one of the most important industrial chemical. The major use of sulfuric acid is in the production of fertilizers, in petroleum refining to wash impurities out of gasoline, derivatives and other refinery & petrochemical products, in processing metals and in automobiles as the electrolyte in the lead-acid storage battery.

Calcium Carbonate Plant

The plant of Calcium Carbonate is built in the following steps:

  1. The first step is to Calcination / Burning of limestone in a vertical shaft lime kiln for quick lime and carbon dioxide gas production.
  2. Hydration of quick lime to yield hydrated lime.
  3. Carbon dioxide gas is washed and cooled.
  4. Reaction of hydrated lime with CO2 gas to give desired grade of precipitated calcium carbonate slurry.

Primarily the lime stone is screened and washed to separate undesized material after which it is fed to the vertical shaft lime kiln for preheating, calcinations & cooling operation. In this process quick lime & CO2 gas are obtained and is automatically controlled. The quick lime is further hydrated with process water in batch reactor and screened to eliminate impurity. Thereafter the line slurry is processed so that it reaches the designed process condition which is required in reactors for carbonation. The co2 gas produced is cooled and washed in a washer which is vertical in shape and then is charges to the batch reactor. Conditions are regulated in reactors to acquire different grade of precipitated calcium carbonate. This is further washed filtered and dried for getting a fine powder.

Stable Bleaching Powder Plant

Calcium hydroxide solids and chlorine gas in counter current fashion is brought together to induce a reaction for producing Stable Bleaching powder. The amount of chlorine is same as the amount of chlorine present in bleaching powder therefore preventing the wastage of chlorine.

About 35% or less of available chlorine is found in bleaching powder when freshly manufactured.

Stable Bleaching powder can be used anywhere liquid chlorine is used. The various applications of SBH are as the following:
