Blow moulding a manufacturing process to produce hollow plastic parts. The manufacturing process in blow moulding begins with melting of the plastic and forming it into a parison or a preform. The parison is then clinched into a mould and air is blown into it. The air pressure causes the plastic to expand and match the mould. After the plastic has cooled and hardened, the mould is opened and part ejected.
Injection Moulding is a manufacturing process for making parts by injecting host of materials, such as reinforced and non-reinforced thermoplastic and elastomers into a mould. The process may seem very easy but one needs to be extra cautious while designing the moulding order to efficiently facilitate the moulding process. Besides, there must be cohesion between the material to be used for manufacturing of product and the material to be used for making the mould, to ensure a perfect product in the end.
In RIM process, the two halves of the mould, clamped to the press platens are first closed with the help of press and then highly reactive mixture of raw materials is injected in the mould under high pressure. Mixture is then given time enough to expand and cure to the shape of the mould.
Reaction injection moulding has many advantages over other processes. It produces light weight, flexible yet very high impact strength products with cycle times as low as 3-4 minutes. The ingredients used in RIM process has very low viscosities unlike molten thermoplastics and at par with water which makes it most suitable process for manufacture of large, light weight and thin walled products, of intricate shapes and profiles.
NTF has two types for RIM technologies:The products manufactured under Reaction Injection Moulding are exterior body parts of a car such as:
For manufacture of parts the two halves of the mould are first applied with release agent and uniform gel-coat layer and then laid up with special glass mat known as CFM or core mat. The two halves of mould are then closed with toggle clamps and vacuum applied to the mould with inbuilt vacuum minder. Resin is then forced into it with the help of a quick, semi-automated process. Once the requisite amount of resin is injected the mould is left for curing of the part for 30-45 minutes.
Benefits of RTM:At NTF we use RTM technology to develop superior quality and durable products. In the production process we useThermo set Reinforced as the raw material to produce:
forming
Most of the auto interiors are moulded by this process in NTF. Thermoplastic in the form of extruded sheet is first heated to its melt flow index temperature by passing through an infra-red oven and then placed through conveyor on mould cavity at room temperature and already clamped on the bottom platen of the press while the decorative fabric woven or non-woven, vinyl sheet etc. are pre fixed on core clamped on top platen of the press. The press is closed under constant pressure for a predetermined time when the part takes its shape with top fabric duly bonded with it. We have four thermo-compression lines in our two units for serving our automotive OEM customers.
ProductionAfter selecting the appropriate material for the production process we move forward with the manufacturing wherein following products are manufactured:
NTF is introducing a new technology LWRT (Light Weight Reinforced Thermoplastic) to produce similar products with light weight and added strength.
