Asparagus Racemosus is a spiny shrub with reduced green spine like leaves and scrambling branches. It has fibrous roots with white root tubers that are numerous in number hence the name ‘Shatavari’ which means a hundred tubers. It is cultivated for the medicinal use of the root tubers for the prevention and treatment of gastric ulcers, dyspepsia and as a galactagogue.
